Toyanogata Park Meike: Green Lawns and Lagoon Views

Shaded lawn and benches in Toyanogata Park’s Meike district, with Big Swan stadium in the distance.

Toyanogata Park’s Meike district offers a lookout over Toyanogata Lagoon and a plant-lined path for a nature-focused detour. Consider it when you want lagoon views and a walk with plants as part of the attraction.

Why visit

Meike’s appeal is its combination of a lagoon outlook, lakeside cherry trees and the Shirabe no Komichi path. Choose this district for those features rather than treating all of Toyanogata Park as one interchangeable destination: Meike is a separate park district from Shumoku.

Plan your visit

Use the Meike information centre at 3-1-3 Meikeminami, Chuo Ward, as your destination reference. For drivers, the operator lists 207 ordinary-car spaces, one bus space and five priority spaces.

If arriving via Yakyujo/Kagakukanmae bus stop, allow about eight minutes for the local walk. That walking estimate covers the stop-to-park approach, not the bus journey.

Make the most of your visit

Try giving Shirabe no Komichi its own share of your attention rather than making the lookout your only goal. The plant-lined path provides another focus for the visit, while the lakeside cherry trees are worth keeping in mind if blossom scenery interests you. Enjoy what is present on the day: neither blooms nor bird sightings are guaranteed.

Planning notes

Parking restrictions checked on 17 October 2026: the Meike car park closes daily from 20:00 to 08:30 in May–September. In October–April, it closes from 20:00 to 08:30 Tuesday–Friday and from 18:00 to 08:30 Saturday–Monday. Plan your return to the car accordingly; these restrictions are not opening hours for every park path.

Check current outward and return bus services before setting out.
