Step inside Imayo Tsukasa to discover how sake-making connects with the history of Niigata and its Nuttari neighbourhood.
Why visit
Old brewing tools and signs give you details to look for as the guide explains the brewing process and its local setting. This is a good fit for travellers who want to understand the place behind the sake, with a guided introduction in English.
Plan your visit
The English-guided tour starts at 14:00 on weekdays, excluding Japanese public holidays, and costs JPY 550 per person including tax. This is the English-tour price; transport and purchases are extra.
Allow approximately 30–40 minutes for the guided visit, plus time for arrival, waiting, shopping and any optional tasting.
The brewery is at 1-1 Kagamigaoka, Chuo-ku, Niigata City. The operator estimates a walk of about 15 minutes from Niigata Station; add a little time to find the entrance.
Make the most of your visit
Make the tour the main event, then leave some unhurried time to browse the shop or try an optional tasting. This suggested order keeps the visit focused without filling the afternoon with extra stops.
Planning notes
Reserve through the operator’s booking link or by telephone. Parties of 1–9 may book on the day if spaces remain; parties of 10 or more and private tours need separate arrangements. Confirm your place before building the afternoon around it.
The shop’s standard hours are 09:00–17:00, with closure from 31 December through 3 January. These are shop hours, not the English-tour schedule.
Save any drinking for after the tour: the operator refuses tour entry to visitors who have already consumed alcohol. If you taste sake, arrange onward travel without driving. Adult-led family groups may join; groups led by visitors under 20 are not accepted.
There are three entrance steps with a portable ramp available. Uneven floors and possible hoses may affect movement inside, so discuss individual access needs with staff before booking.
