Echigo Hillside Park: Flowers and Open Space in Nagaoka

Rows of pink, purple, white and yellow tulips overlook the pond and green hills at Echigo Hillside Park.

Flower beds, broad lawns and a pond make Echigo Hillside Park a spacious outdoor break in Nagaoka. In the Health Zone, the rose garden, flower hill and Koshinoike pond offer several ways to shape a daylight garden visit.

Why visit

The appeal is the choice of garden settings within the Health Zone: try the rose garden and flower hill for a flower-focused visit, or make the pond area and open lawns your main interest. Play areas offer another option. Seasonal flowers and individual facilities vary, so choose the setting you would enjoy rather than counting on a particular bloom.

Plan your visit

Ordinary admission is ¥450 for adults, ¥210 for visitors aged 65 and above, and free for junior-high-school age and below. Admission is free December–March. If driving, allow separately for standard ordinary-car parking of ¥320; winter weekday parking is free, while winter weekends and holidays are charged.

The address is 1950-1 Miyamotohigashikata, Nagaoka. For the main gardens, follow the operator’s directions to the Welcome Gate. Check current transport information for both your outward and return journey.

Make the most of your visit

Consider choosing one main interest—garden areas, the pond or open lawns—and using the other settings as optional additions. The Satoyama Field Museum is a separate area, so do not confuse it with the main Health Zone garden visit.
