Yasuragi-tei: A Riverside Walk Along the Shinano River

Cherry blossoms and a colorful flower bed along the Yasuragi-tei riverside path

Yasuragi-tei offers a grassy riverside walk along the Shinano River, with gently sloping banks, trees and places to sit. Consider it for a stroll with a bench break rather than a visit built around a single attraction.

Why visit

The appeal is the riverside landscape itself. Yasuragi-tei is a flood-control embankment softened by grass, trees and flower beds, with benches and arbors providing places to pause. A cycling road is also part of the setting. Try making the riverbank your focus: walk for a while, then choose a seat rather than treating the whole stretch as something to complete.

Plan your visit

Choose your bank before planning your approach. The city describes the left-bank stretch from Kawabata 6-chome toward Kawagishi 3-chome and Sekiya Okawamae 1-chome. On the right bank, it lists the stretch from Bandai 2-chome toward Saiwai 3-chome and Kamidokoro 2-chome.

For the left bank, the city gives an approximate walk of ten minutes from Hakusan Station or five minutes from Hakusan Koen-mae bus stop. These are useful starting points for choosing an approach, rather than a suggested route covering both banks.

Make the most of your visit

For a flower-focused visit, consider spring: the city identifies cherry blossoms and tulips as highlights around April and May. Treat that as seasonal guidance rather than a promise of flowers on a particular day. For a simpler visit, let the benches, grass and riverside setting shape your stop, without making blossoms the reason to go.

Planning notes

There is no dedicated parking, so do not plan on a venue car park. The city’s landscape, bank descriptions, access and seasonal information used here were checked on 2026-10-20. The approximate walking times above apply specifically to the left-bank approach.
