Make room for a green detour at Niigata Prefectural Botanical Garden in Kanazu, Akiha Ward, where outdoor planted grounds and a separate ornamental greenhouse offer two ways to explore. Choose a walk through the grounds, or add the admission-charged greenhouse to your visit.

Why visit
The garden’s appeal is the choice between its outdoor planted spaces and a distinct greenhouse visit. Consider the grounds for a simple garden outing, with the greenhouse as an optional addition rather than treating the whole site as one ticketed attraction.
Plan your visit
Outdoor grounds and parking are free. Greenhouse admission, effective from 1 April 2026, is ¥700 for adults, ¥300 at the student rate, and ¥100 for elementary- and junior-high-school children. Children in those last two school groups enter free on Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays; infants enter free. Events may have different charges.
Decide whether you want the greenhouse before setting your arrival time: its visiting window is 09:30–16:30, with last entry at 16:00. These hours apply to the greenhouse, not to the outdoor grounds.
Make the most of your visit
Try giving your visit a simple focus: the outdoor planting, the greenhouse, or both, according to your interests. Ordinary garden and greenhouse visits are separate from optional courses and group guided programmes, so those organised activities should not be treated as the default visit format. Keep the plan centred on what you want to explore rather than assuming a programme is part of admission.
Planning notes
The official visitor information was checked on 18 October 2026. The greenhouse normally closes on Tuesdays, or on Wednesday when Tuesday is a national holiday; check the official calendar for temporary changes.
Do not pick plants, cycle inside, smoke, light fires or leave rubbish. Pets are not permitted, except assistance dogs. The operator requests advance contact for group visits; that request is not a mandatory individual reservation condition.
